[BLOG] A closer look on #인피니트 Sunggyu '27' comeback teasers compilation

After days of counting down before his official comeback, finally Woollim Entertainment revealed the teaser for the final track of Sunggyu's second solo album. Fans and netizens alike started speculating about how this album would turn out, since it was previously mentioned that it was a gift to Sunggyu by none other than his idol and role model himself, Nell's Kim Jonghwan. I, too, personally hoped for something different from what he had done with his previous solo album Another Me. As I have translated before, Inspirits tried guessing the series of release for the teasers, which actually seems accurate based on the trend that happened.

For those who did/have not followed the teaser release on the actual date, let's do a little backtrack, or should I say throwback for you guys. Starting with on the 26th of April 2015, the day Woollim dropped the bomb that Sunggyu will make his comeback first before the previously announced OT7 comeback for May. Proves that CEO Lee Jungyeop really loves our precious Leader, don't you guys think so? The tweet was still vague at that moment, leaving fans guessing what could the number '27' mean.
First official teaser release!

The following day, when the clock strikes 00:00 KST, Woollim did not fail us and revealed a new image with the first track of the album, that is 스물일곱 or 27. Based on Woollim's description, 27 is a track composed by Nell's Kim Jonghwan and the intro track that is a distorted piece made up of vocals and superb sounds. Unlike the intro on his first solo album, this time it's louder!

Desperate, sorrowful, perfectly, a song that expresses a heart that is longing for that one person. Amidst the soft serenading melody lies a firm will of Sunggyu's unique vocals that leads the song. Introducing Track 2, titled as 너여야만 해 (The Answer). Releasing this on the midnight of Sunggyu's birthday and revealed that he will not promote just one, but two title tracks, this song being one of the two.

Running halfway through the track list is the third track entitled Alive. This song is composed by Kim Jonghwan along with the American record label Def Jam and songwriter SPACEBOY. Def Jam is focused predominantly on hip hop and urban music and it is owned by the Universal Music Group. Also, this will be the first ever joint composition of DEF JAM  with a Korean artist. Focusing more on the contents of the song. Not until after separation that he suffered on what is left and in the end can't just simply abandon the memories. This is the message that this song portrays. That moment combined with Sunggyu's dense vocals. Can you picture how this song goes in your mind by now? No? Let's move on then.

Next on the list is the second title track, entitled Kontrol. Released on the 3rd of May, Kontrol relays a message that says "I will suffer all of the pain, so please promise me this one thing", as soon as the music start, Kim Sunggyu's powerful voice pledged that even though it's hard and painful he will not give up and keep on waiting. Will Inspirits wait the way our leader does on this song?

Almost finish with the list, Track 5 became the most shocking out of all the teaser release. Titled as Daydream that features a unit named Borderline. Who the heck is Borderline? This never heard of unit consist of infamous Epik High's Tablo and Nell's Kim Jonghwan himself. Although Tablo mentioned on his previous tweet that he had composed songs with Kim Jonghwan before, this is officially the first time for Borderline to be revealed. Despite their difference in style, it fills up this song with an unexpected harmony.

Completing the track list is our final track which was release just last night. Titled 답가 (Reply) features another fresh artist in the Korean music industry. 박윤하 or Yoon Ha Park from K-Pop Star Season 4 will be joining Sunggyu on a duet for the last track. Accompanied by a calm acoustic guitar, this song is composed of a conversation between a man and a woman. Through K-Pop Star Yoon Ha Park's voice, feelings that has always been kept inside the heart and that ain't easy to express can now be voiced out. I'm pretty sure we will all fall in love with this last one.
